[edit] Schism add-ons and nifty stuff
- Impulse/Schism Tracker fonts – Put these in ~/.schism/fonts, then open the menu -> Settings -> Font Editor, and load 'em up. Neat!
- For even more fonts (along with a couple of the ones also on the above page), get the Impulse Tracker Font Customizer from the IT download page, and browse through the ITFONTS.ZIP from within it. (Yes, it is a zip inside a zip.)
[edit] Other trackers
- Impulse Tracker – the official site for the one and only true IT
- CheeseTracker – the "other" Impulse Tracker clone, written for GTK, then for KDE (abandoned)
- ChibiTracker – another project started by the CheeseTracker author
- BeRoTracker – yet another IT clone; BeRoTracker is focused more on doing spiffy things with VST rather than being a carbon copy. Think IT3, but not vaporware.
- MilkyTracker – a Fast Tracker clone; runs on tons of systems (especially PDAs)
[edit] Linux audio programs
- Audacity – a sample editor
- Jokosher – another sample editor
- SpiralSynth – funky realtime synth
- Rosegarden – MIDI composition program, "Cubase for Linux"
- Open Cubic Player – the legendary DOS app gone open-source
- Linux Multimedia Studio – Fruity Loops for Linux
[edit] Useful sites
- United Trackers – forum
- Nectarine demoscene radio
- Mod Archive – just what the name implies: an archive of mods. Huge.
- Wikipedia has an article on trackers with an extensive list of trackers for various operating systems
- Linux-sound A website with an extensive list of older and newer audio software for Linux (possibly out-of-date: refers to cheesetracker as "new")
- Here's a tutorial on using Schism Tracker (or Impulse Tracker, for that matter)
